On Thursday, the musician had a show at the 4900-capacity O2 Academy in Brixton where he performed ‘Mr. Money With The Vibe’, his debut album.

The concert was, however, cancelled part-way after the crowd breached the doors and security.

The incident left eight people injured, with four of them said to be in “critical condition”.

Reacting to the incident in a Twitter post on Friday, Khan said he is shocked that such could happen in London.

The mayor said an “urgent investigation” has commenced into the incident adding that he would not rest until the cause of the crowd crush is established.

“My thoughts are with all those affected by the awful incident at Brixton Academy. Eight people were taken to hospital, with four in critical condition. An urgent investigation is underway and I remain in close contact with the Met commissioner since last night,” he wrote.

“I’m heartbroken that this could happen to young Londoners enjoying a night out in our city and urge anyone with any information to contact the police on 101. I won’t rest until we have the answers their loved ones and the local community need and deserve.”

Asake had earlier said he is trying to reach out to those injured during the incident.
