Kim Kardashian, the US media personality, has become a single woman — over a year after filing for divorce from Kanye West.

According to AP, Steve Cochran, the judge of a Los Angeles superior court, granted Kardashian’s motion seeking to be legally single.

At a virtual court hearing on Wednesday, Cochran said he would grant the reality star’s request for a “bifurcated divorce”  — meaning that divorce proceedings will be split into two parts.

According to him, the first is to immediately end her marriage, while the second is to put matters about assets and custody into future proceedings.

The next hearing in the case is set for August.

Last month, West, 44, had kicked against the divorce, arguing that granting her the single status before issues like custody of their children and shared properties are settled could result in “risk of adverse consequences.

The pair have four children together namely North, 8, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 2.

Kardashian, 41, filed for divorce in February 2021 — after seven years of marriage.

In November last year, the Grammy-winning artist had said he plans to work out his strained relationship with Kardashian.

“Now it’s time to restore the families this Thanksgiving. It’s all about restoring the family,” West had said.

“This morning I felt so blessed to wake up, to workout and be able to drive to my house and see my wife and my kids.

“The narrative God wants is to see that we can be redeemed in all these relationships.

“We’ve made mistakes. I’ve made mistakes. I’ve publicly done things that were not acceptable as a husband.

“But right now today, for whatever reason — I didn’t know I was going to be in front of this mic — but I’m here to change the narrative. I’m not letting E! write the narrative of my family.”
