Johnny Wactor, the American actor, was shot dead by thieves who were trying to steal a part from his car in the early hours of Saturday in Los Angeles, California.

Scarlett Wactor, his mother, confirmed his passing to TMZ. She revealed that the incident occurred around 3am shortly after the actor left a bar with a coworker.

Wactor was said to have been shot while trying to confront the three men who were attempting to remove the catalytic converter from his parked vehicle.

Paramedics were called to the scene and the 37-year-old actor was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The police said the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle and have not been arrested. They added that an investigation has commenced into the incident.

David Shaul, the actor’s agent, also confirmed his death to Variety.

He described Wactor as a “spectacular human being”, adding that he was a “real moral example” to everyone around him.

“Johnny Wactor was a spectacular human being. Not just a talented actor who was committed to his craft but a real moral example to everyone who knew him. Standing for hard work, tenacity and a never give up attitude,” he wrote.

“He would literally give you the shirt off his back. After over a decade together, he will leave a hole in our hearts forever.”

Wactor was known for his role as Brando Corbin in ‘General Hospital’, the ABC soap opera.

He featured in over 160 episodes of the show from 2020-2022.
