Jim Iyke, the actor, has reacted to the remark attributed to the Oba of Lagos about Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in the state.

Ahead of Saturday’s governorship election, Rilwan Akiolu declared his support for Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The Oba also urged Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour not to relent if he loses the governorship election.

“For Gbadebo, the future is open to you. God will not kill you, there is nothing wrong in you contesting. Don’t relent after this contest but I am fully behind Sanwo-Olu,” Akiolu had said when the LP candidate visited his palace.

Registering his reservation with respect to Oba’s remark, Iyke asked his followers what “democracy” means — in what appeared to be a thinly-veiled dig at the traditional ruler.

According to the Cambridge dictionary, democracy is the belief in freedom and equality between people, or a system of government based on this belief, in which power is either held by elected representatives or directly by the people themselves.

The actor also disclosed that a wise man made him take the choice of dual citizenship seriously, adding that he is glad he listened.

“Somebody please remind me again what democracy means, Google has failed me,” he wrote.

“A wise man made me take the choice of dual, even multiple citizenship seriously years ago. I listened.

“I’m here for some logical insights, no man is an island. Not here for dimwits insults, please take note. God bless Nigeria, SMH.”
