‘The Wedding Party’ star Iretiola Doyle is the lead actress in ‘MevsMe’, a biopic about the life of rapper/singer, Ice Prince Zamani.
Doyle, who plays Ice Prince’s mother, has lauded the decision of the rapper to tell his story through a film.
She also heaped praise on the biopic’s director Gbenro Ajibade for his directorial skills.
According to Doyle, the actor, a first-time director, was a big revelation on the project.
“#MevsMetheMovie is special for many reasons, most tend to shy away from stories of “humble beginnings”…. not @iceprincezamani,” she wrote on Instagram.
“In this biopic a young boy’s journey to self is told with a simple honesty and poignancy that will tug at the heart, inspire one to dream, and give some insight into the man and creative phenomenon that he has become.
“AND in every production there is the ‘big revelation’, someone who completely blows your mind and surpasses all expectations. For me, on this ride, that person was @gbenroajibade…let me put it this way – if you think you know this man’s creative measure – you are wrong.
“This project will present him in a light and capacity rarely seen. It was a delight to watch that crazy mind shift gears and deal with every logistic or artistic situation as it presented itself with a tenacity and single-mindedness of purpose that is ferocious. I say it again, well done bro, I am so proud.”
The biopic is centered around the journey of the former Chocolate City artiste from obscure beginnings to a life of superstardom.
Shooting on the project is currently ongoing in Jos, Plateau state, where Ice Prince was born and bred.
The rapper relocated to Lagos to establish his music career alongside M.I Abaga and his brother Jesse Jagz.
