The police in Lagos have warned that any form of gathering at the tollgate in the Lekki area of the state would not be tolerated.

The police issued the warning on Thursday evening — at about the same time when Falz and Mr Macaroni announced they would be staging a peace walk on Friday in commemoration of the third anniversary of the EndSARS protest.

The walk is in commemoration of the Nigerians who lost their lives during the #EndSARS protest against police brutality and extrajudicial killings in Nigeria on the night of October 20, 2020.

The demonstrations led to the disbandment of the special anti-robbery squad (SARS), a police unit that was accused of human rights abuses.

In a post via X, Benjamin Hundeyin, the state police command’s spokesperson, said no gathering or convergence whatsoever would be allowed anywhere around the toll gate.

“Buses at/by Oriental Hotel suggests stopping/waiting of buses and gathering of passengers. For the avoidance of doubt, no gathering/convergence whatsoever would be allowed anywhere around the toll gate,” it reads

Hundeyin also said the police would be fully on the ground to ensure security for all persons participating in the peaceful walk, as long as they are not obstructing traffic.
