Aubrey Drake Graham, Canadian rapper, has taken over from Adele as the world’s best-selling artiste.
British star, Adele was the best-selling artiste of 2015.
Asides edging out Adele, Drake also beat David Bowie, the late rock icon who came in at second place.
The international federation of the phonographic industry (IFPI) made this known in a statement on Wednesday.
“Views became the first album to reach one billion streams on Apple Music, while ‘One Dance’, the album’s second single, was the first song to be played one billion times on Spotify,” said Frances Moore, IFPI chief executive.
“Drake’s phenomenal success reflects how deeply his unique sound appeals to the enormous global audience,” he added.
Late Bowie dropped his final album Blackstar two days before he died in January 2016.
British rockers Coldplay came third, followed by Adele, Justin Bieber, Beyonce and Rihanna.
