Rema, the Nigerian singer, has come through with ‘Hehehe’, his highly anticipated single.

The ‘Calm Down’ hitmaker announced the song’s release across all streaming platforms.

In ‘Hehehe’, Rema taunted his critics, saying they can keep talking about him while he makes more money.

“Monday morning, talking about me/ While I’m making money/ Hehe-hehe-hehe-hehe-he/ I’m not gonna take it easy on my hater/ Not gonna take it easy on my hater/ Yeba not gonna, not gonna/ Hehe-hehe-hehe-hehe-he hey,” he sings.

Rema, born Divine Ikubor, was signed into D’Prince’s Jonzing World, a subsidiary of Mavin Records in 2019.

Since then, he has established himself as one of the prominent names in the African music industry.

Rema won the ‘Best Male Artiste’ and ‘Digital Artiste Of The Year’ at 16th Headies.

‘Calm Down’, released in February 2022, has continued to earn massive numbers on streaming services, break records, and earn awards.

The song went platinum in the United Kingdom in March 2023, and by April same year, it was India’s second longest-charting no 1 African song.  It was named the longest-charting African song on Billboard Hot 100 in June.

In August, ‘Calm Down’ became Billboard’s longest-charting US Afrobeats song with 52 weeks while in September, the song hit one billion streams on Spotify.

With over 908 million views — as of July 8, 2024 — the song’s remix — featuring US singer Selena Gomez — is the most-viewed Nigerian music video on YouTube.

In December 2023, Rema was listed as one of the singers who dominated the year’s charts of most exported artistes in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) on Spotify.
