Dayo Amusa, the actress, has engaged in a war of words on social media with Omotayo Sanusi, the wife of actor Femi Adebayo

The altercation started after Adebayo announced Bobrisky, the self-proclaimed transgender and crossdresser, as the ‘Best Dressed Female’ at the premiere of Ajakaju, a film by Eniola Ajao.

Some celebrities and fans took to social media to question the parameters used in handing Bobrisky the award, prompting backlashes on the award organisers.

Joining the fray, Amusa expressed her disappointment at Adebayo that Bobrisky was given the award.

The actress, in an Instagram post, also wondered why a crossdresser was placed in the same category as women.

“Anyway, if you must know, the announcer, not the judge, because I do not think it was one person that picked the winner, is the instigator. In fact, I am not surprised, because that was how you did in the movie Ajakaju. You were the one who caused everything. You made a promise and failed in the movie. You brought out your character in Ajakaju to real life to announce rubbish,” she said.

“The person who announced a cross-dresser as the best-dressed female is the villain in the movie. I just made my point. The winner could be anybody, but definitely not a cross-dresser. I do not regret what I have just said.”

Reacting, Omotayo described Amusa’s comment as “hypocritical and evil”, arguing that it was an attempt to “bring her husband down”.

“You all are quick to bring people down…How does the person who presents an award be blamed for it? So if AMVCA gives an award to someone you believe is not deserving, you’ll blame the presenter of the award and not the AMVCA or judges?!!! Where are your brains? Well I don’t blame you all, I blame the so-called colleagues (enemies disguised as friends) Who find it easier to publicly call you out at every opportunity rather than putting a call through to you! Femi is damn too hardworking and supportive! Madam, karma will visit you soon! Because you know Femi was only asked to present! Your call out was definitely Intentional and hypocritical!” she wrote in a now-deleted post.

She also claimed Amusa earlier promised to retract her statement on Adebayo.

“Dayo! You are an hypocrite and evil minded! Just this morning you were apologizing to Femi on the phone, you claimed you didn’t mean it the way it was interpreted and that you would do a video to correct that but because you lied! Who God has blessed No Dayo can curse. God is bigger than you!” she added.

But in her response, Amusa warned Adebayo’s wife not to “push this (the dispute) too far” in her bid to defend her husband.

“It’s cool to want to defend your own ALADUKE! I respect you for that but throwing banta only shows how shallow minded you are… He has to own up to it, take responsibility for his actions, and do the needful. No one is an enemy in disguise. Hypocrisy doesn’t exist here. I said all I said and I stand firmly on it. DON’T PUSH THIS TOO FAR,” she also wrote in a now-deleted post.

Addressing the controversy, however, Ajao, the film producer, said giving Bobrisky the ‘Best Dressed Female’ award was “a stunt to promote the movie”.

“It was all jokes anyway. We just wanted to have fun. My team and I decided that we needed people to talk about the movie. Femi Adebayo is my boss. He is not even aware of so many things. I just called him that can you help me announce?” she said in an interview with Arise TV.
