Chikezie Uwazie, the Nollywood actor, has passed away after undergoing a second brain surgery.

Obey Etok, one of his professional colleagues, took to her Instagram page to announce Uwazies’s demise on Sunday evening.

Uwazie was said to have travelled to the United States for brain surgery.

“I can’t imagine am posting this. Chikezie Uwazie goneeeee. After a 2nd brain surgery. Gini na emezi. Am so shocked to get this news this evening,” she wrote.

“Just got this from our IMSU alumni platform. I thought you told me you were going to the states for greener pastures.

“You promised to come back some years back but I didn’t see you. Can’t believe you are gone but God knows best. Rest on Chyko.”

When contacted by TheCable Lifestyle, Abubakar Yakubu, secretary of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), confirmed the actor is dead.

Yakubu said the AGN had received the news of his death, adding that he died of brain surgery.

He said the actor had the first surgery on his brain “but didn’t survive the second one”.

Uwazie’s demise came at about the same time when Murphy Afolabi passed on.

Afolabi was said to have died after he slumped in the bathroom.

He had celebrated his 49th birthday nine days earlier.

There are also rumours that Saint Obi, the ace actor, passed away a few days ago.
