There is a saying that some celebrities thrive on controversies and the year 2022 witnessed a handful of such confrontations.

TheCable Lifestyle takes a look at a few of the celebrities that left tongues wagging in the outgoing year.

Portable vs Goya Menor

Portable’s inclusion on the list will not come as a surprise to many due to his knack for controversies.

In September, the ‘Zazoo Zeh’ crooner and Goya Menor traded words for days after the Edo-born music sensation won the ‘Best Street Artiste’ gong at the 2022 Headies.

Portable, who was also nominated in the category — but later disqualified — had aimed a dig at Menor while arguing that he does not deserve the award.

But the ‘Ameno Amapiano’ singer did not hesitate to hit back at the 27-year-old street singer. Their heated confrontation dominated discussions on social media.

Ruger vs BNXN

For some months now, Ruger and BNXN have been at loggerheads over the lingering supremacy battle between them.

The face-off started in July when a fan claimed BNXN is a better artiste than Ruger.

Since then, they have been engaging in a heated war of words on social media while also trying to downplay each other’s achievements.

If anything, there is no indication the growing rivalry and exchange of insults between them will simmer down anytime soon.

At a time when social media presence and engagement determine relevance in the entertainment industry, the pair’s lingering feud could be a strategy to remain in the spotlight.

Caroline Danjuma vs Iyabo Ojo

Change, they say, is constant. Iyabo Ojo and Caroline Danjuma were once enviable friends. But their friendship suffered a major setback during the outgoing year.

Ojo and Danjuma — now known as Caroline Hutchings — both featured on the Real Housewives of Lagos (RHOL), the reality TV show.

Since their stint on the show, the pair have taken to social media to call out each other on several occasions. The actresses also hurled insults at each other while opting for a blame game — rather than seeking solutions to their disagreements.

Time will tell if they will bury the hatchet anytime soon.

Naira Marley vs Mohbad

Rising hostilities between record label owners and their signees are gradually becoming a norm in the Nigerian entertainment landscape.

The face-off between Naira Marley, the owner of Marlian Music, and Mohbad in the outgoing year is an instance of the disturbing trend.

The drama between the pair started with the arrest of the ‘Feel Good’ crooner by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), with Mohbad later alleging Marley and his label want him dead.

The dust over the NDLEA saga had barely settled when the ‘KPK’ crooner again alleged assault by the management of Marley’s label. The ensuing drama would later degenerate into heated reactions, allegations, and counter-allegations. It also prompted Mohbad to terminate his contract with Marley’s label.

Carter Efe Vs Beri Tiga

Carter Efe and Beri Tiga once shared an enviable bond and look poised to take the music industry by storm with a synergy that holds no bounds.

But they fell apart after releasing ‘Machala’, their first collaborative song.

A heated argument had ensued after the song’s release over who actually owned the project.

Tiga had alleged Efe offered him a 95 –5 percent deal despite composing the song but the skit maker dismissed the claim.

The drama lingered for weeks with both parties sharing details of their rift with Blaqbonez and other artistes also weighing into the matter.
