Several Nigerian celebrities have joined the ‘Stingy Men Association (SMA)’ since it became a sensation on social media platforms.
The movement, initiated by a section of social media users, is aimed at catching fun while also aiming a thinly-veiled dig at some ladies fond of asking men for money.
Contrary to the ‘Sweet Boys Association’ — used to describe men of amazing personality which also gained traction in 2018 — SMA argues that there’s no justification for men spending on ladies who don’t deserve their money.
The group’s motto is “Let me see what I can do” — a term suggesting that men giving money to ladies should be seen as voluntary not an obligation as believed in some quarters.
Quite a lot of Nigerian men have shown their interest in the association since it started trending, with many sharing their identity cards and others asking how they can become a member.
TheCable Lifestyle examines celebrities who have so far joined the association.
Don Jazzy
Don Jazzy, a singer and record producer, took to his Twitter page on Monday to declare himself a member of the association.
In his ID card displayed on the microblogging platform, the 38-year-old singer described himself as the Lagos branch’s “head of the union.”
