The music star snagged the ‘Best Global Music Album’ category at the 2021 Grammy Awards for ‘Twice As Tall‘, his last year’s project.

Speaking at the concert held on Saturday, Wike commended the artistes who graced the concert, adding that he is proud of them.

In a now-viral, the crowd could be heard applauding the governor after his promise of rewarding the artistes who performed at the event as well as Burna Boy.

“Those of you who have come to play, whatever you have agreed with the ministry of culture and tourism is not my business,” he said.

“All of you that have come today and the Niger Delta people that have come to play today to show the talent you have, I’m very proud of you. All of you will go home with N10 million each.”

It remains unclear how many artistes performed at the event.

The governor was also said to have given the singer a plot of land to build for himself a home.

The cash reward promise comes weeks after teachers in the state protested over the non-payment of salaries by the state government.

Organisers of the event also disregarded COVID-19 protocols as the governor is seen in the footage without a face mask while there was no social distancing.

Wike had earlier received the ‘African Giant’ crooner and his team at the government house in Port Harcourt on Saturday.

In a statement by Kelvin Ebiri, his media aide, Wike said the singer has done the state proud.
