Buju, the Nigerian singer, has changed his stage name to BNXN.

The music star, born Daniel Benson, announced the change of name in a Twitter post on Thursday.

“It’s no longer “Buju” Call me “Benson” written as ‘BNXN,” the singer wrote.

Buju didn’t exactly reveal why he changed his stage name.

However, the organic search results for the keyword “Buju” often include web activities relating to Buju Banton, the Jamaican reggae-dancehall singer.

Buju was nominated for the ‘Rookie of the Year’ category at The Headies 2019.

In 2020, he won the City People Entertainment Awards for the ‘Revelation of the Year’s category.

In 2021, he featured on the top-charting single ‘Feeling’ by Ladipoe and the song ‘Bling’ by Blaqbonez.

In August, he was featured on the deluxe edition of Wizkid’s ‘Made In Lagos’ album alongside Justin Bieber.

Buju’s collaboration with Wizkid on ‘Mood’ earned him a number one spot on UK Afrobeats Singles Chart.

In December, Wizkid debuted the ‘Made In Lagos (The Deluxe)’ short film, starring Buju.
