It is common to hear contestants say they will leverage on the platform given to them by whatever TV reality competition they partake in, but sometimes it never pans out as planned.

Kcee, Omawumi, Chidinma, Uti, Timi Dakolo and Yemi Alade are some of those who participated in reality shows and have achieved success in the entertainment industry.

It’s been six months since the second edition of Big Brother Naija ended and here’s how the contestants have fared so far.

Somadina Anyama, alongside Miyonse, were the first housemates to be evicted from the Big Brother house. He was sent home three weeks into the show, giving the audience little time to connect with him.

Perhaps being aware of that, Soma released ‘One plus One’ and an accompanying music video two days after he was evicted from the show.

So far, ‘One Plus One’ has been viewed 87,927 times on YouTube.

In June, he released a much improved single entitled ‘Liquor’ but the song failed to gain much traction. It has received less than 6,000 views on YouTube.

Soma would later join the cast of award-winning television series, ‘Jenifa’s Diary’. He is also making a foray into Nollywood and has starred alongside Bolanle Ninolowo, Nollywood actor, in a yet to be released flick.

Despite being the first victim of eviction alongside Soma, Miyonse Amosu seems to be progressing well.

Miyonse has a gig on TVC’s Wake Up Nigeria cooking segment while he also recently cooked at a pop-up kitchen event organised by Maggi.

He is also the food ambassador for PayPorte Foodstore.

Miyonse has said he will launch his own television show which will focus on cooking and confectionery.

“My TV show is coming out soon; it is a cooking show; however, I would not like to disclose more because the people I signed the contract with have not released an official statement,” he recently said.

“Also I do not like to make noise about my works before they come out. I will like them to speak for themselves.”

“I am not an artiste, so you may not see me at some events; I am a chef; I cook for a living; I have signed two deals with two restaurants to cook with them every month.”

Although this 29-year-old rap artist had released two singles before BBNaija, Mojisola Sowole, popularly known as CoCoIce, is yet to stoke the flames of fame since she left the house.

She released a single, ‘Feeling Ma P’,  after the show and got a special recognition award from the 2017 City People Music Awards alongside Gifty, Bassey and Uriel.

Gifty

During her stay in the house, Gifty Powers made the news on various occasions for her controversial comments. And since the competition has been over, the budding actress has made more headlines for similar reasons than for her acting.

She recently announced that she has starred alongside Shan George, Daniel .K. Daniel, and Ken Erics in a movie entitled ‘Grey Shadows’.

“I have been up to quite a lot. I am not meant to say some things, but I am sure that very soon it is going to be out, like few projects. I don’t want to rush. I have done a couple of new movies since I got out,” she told TheCable Lifestyle in July.

At present, she is marketing beauty products, handbags, a cleaning service, event planning and interior decor services on her Instagram page from her enterprise which she calls Gifty Powers Empire.

Despite the bad publicity he suffered as a result of the sexual harassment saga involving him and TBoss, Ekemini Kemen seems to have risen out of the troubled waters.

He is promoting his fitness outfit and landed himself a movie gig with Rok Studios. He is also one of the coaches of FanzChampionship Season 4, a football show.

Uriel Oputa

Apart from being a PayPorte ambassador, Uriel Oputa has her hands in a lot of things.

Since she left the house, she has been working on a fashion line that deals with makeovers, wigs and hair serum. A female undergarment brand line, Ameshi, is also in the works.

She launched a vlog called Diary Session with Uriel where she reviews spas and has also expressed interest in starting her own cooking show.

Thin Tall Tony

In April when TheCable Lifestyle spoke to Offiong Edet Anthony, he spoke about having a roadshow and promoting his work as a dancer and thespian.

The professional dancer in August said he would host a dance concert aimed at contributing to the growth of dance as a profession.

The concert was meant to hold on October 8 but not much has been heard from him since then.

Bassey

During his 62-day stay in the BBNaija house, Bassey Ekpeyong teamed up with Debie Rise, creating melodies, singing and playing the guitar.

Their working relationship continued outside the house, as the duo got tongues wagging after sharing suggestive pictures online.

However, it was part of the publicity for their song, ‘Joy and Pain’.

With several hosting duties gigs to his credit and landing roles in some movies, you can say Bassey is progressing nicely.

It is safe to call Bally Balat the northern representative of BBNaija; he was the only housemate from that region of the country.

Having performed in various parties and events, the active disc jockey seems to know where he is headed.

Marvis

Since Marvis Nkpornwi left the BBNaija house, it has been all about music for her.

After releasing her single, Vibe, she embarked on a road tour and released the video for the song not long after.

Debie Rise

Like Marvis, Debie Rise has been working on growing her brand as a singer.

Since she left the house, she has released three singles and has been touring the country to promote her music. The tour is tagged Rise. Above. General. Expectations.

Her most popular single thus far is the inspirational ‘Here To Stay’.

TBoss

She was the last person to be evicted from the house so she certainly had time to win the audience over.

TBoss has been using this popularity to land herself hosting gigs and to serve as ambassadors to some companies.

Domestic violence is often ignored as it usually happens behind closed doors and it can seem easier not to get involved. Yet, 1 in 4 women at some point in their lifetime, regardless of their background, career, race or age continue to suffer from domestic violence and it is vital that we create awareness to help protect those directly affected by abuse in the home. it causes far more pain than the visible marks of bruises and scars. We all like to think that if we were the victims of domestic abuse we'd up and leave – but it's not always as easy or straightforward as that. It is devastating to be abused by someone that you love and think loves you in return. Women stay with abusive partners for all kinds of reasons – they love them, they fear them, they have children with them, they believe they can change them or they simply have no where else to go. Bisola

Before getting into the Big Brother House, Bisola Aiyeola had featured in some movies and web series.

After the competition ended, she continued acting and later on signed a record deal with Temple Music.

By winning the ONE competition while in the house, she had the opportunity to attend the 2017 UN general assembly alongside leaders from various countries including Nigeria and the United States.

She also starred in some movies and released a single entitled ‘Water & Fire’ with Jeff Akoh, a one-time winner of MTN Project Fame. She has a YouTube channel where she occasionally releases funny skits.

Efe

Before getting into the BBNaija house, the Warri indigene had released an EP.

While in the house, he popularised the ‘Based on Logistics’ catchphrase and on getting the prize money, the first thing he did was to release a single named after the catchphrase.

Vladmir

He quickly released the video for the song a few months after.

Aftwerwards, Efe released two singles ‘Mercy Is A Bad Girl’ and ‘Somebody’.

He recently announced a campus tour to promote his song, only to announce its postponement on Friday.
