Hear Word!, a stage play that uses social commentary to spotlight gender inequality, among other societal ills, is set to show in Harvard University, Cambridge.
The play will be staged at the 556 capacity Loeb drama centre at the American Repertory Theater.
Hear Word! is set to show from January 26 to February 11.
The play is directed by Ifeoma Fafunwa who describes herself as a “theatre-maker” rather than a writer or a director.
The cast of Hear Word! include Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, Joke Silva, Bimbo Akintola, Ufuoma McDermott, Elvina Ibru, Zara Udofia-Ejoh, Omonor, and Rita Edward.
Others are Debbie Ohiri, master percussionist Blessing Idireri and Emeka Anokwuru.
Hear Word! premiered in 2014. Its themes are based on real issues affecting Nigerian women, as well as their limitations and challenges.
It is the first Nigerian stage play to be invited by Harvard University’s American Repertory Theatre.
