Two band members of Wasiu Ayinde, the Fuji singer better known as Kwam 1, have reportedly absconded in the United Kingdom.
The two individuals, whose names are yet to be identified, were said to be a guitarist and keyboardist.
During the week, Kwam 1 travelled to the UK for music concerts and also performed in Manchester.
According to The Nation, the two individuals absconded upon arrival in the UK, with their whereabouts yet to be known.
The 66-year-old musician was said to have immediately reported the situation to the UK police.
Kwam 1 has won many titles and awards since he ventured into the music industry several decades ago.
Wasiu Ayinde became a member of Ayinde Barrister’s band, the Supreme Fuji Commanders, from 1975 to 1978.
In 1980, he released his first album titled ‘Iba’ with the special track ‘Abode Mecca’. He later put out another album ‘Talazo ’84’ in 1984.
Last year, Kwam 1 opened up on his success in showbiz, saying he would not have gone far as a musician if he had engaged in drug abuse.
“I don’t smoke, I doubt if anyone has ever seen me smoke before. The issue of drugs goes beyond smoking alone. Today, people inject themselves with different kinds of substances. So, we need to educate each other,” he said.
“They (young ones) should take their future serious. If I had been a drug user, I probably don’t feel I would be where I’m today. I won’t be here because it won’t take one far.”
He was recently conferred with a chieftaincy title at the 2023 edition of the Ojude Oba festival in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state.
