Even though the year 2022 witnessed an avalanche of heartbreaks and messy divorces in the entertainment industry, it still marked the beginning of marital bliss for some celebrities.
Several celebrities, ranging from comedians to singers, and actors found love and walked down the aisle this year.
Without further ado, here are some weddings that happened in the entertainment scene in 2022.
- Rita Dominic and Fidelis Anosike
The ace Nollywood actress took her fans by surprise in December 2020 when she revealed Anosike, the publisher of Daily Times Newspaper and founder of Folio Media Group, as her partner in a loved-up Christmas photo.
The lovebirds had their traditional wedding in April 2022 at Dominic’s hometown in Mbaise, Imo state.
In November, the couple had a destination wedding in North Yorkshire, England.
Dominic’s wedding was graced by top figures and the crème de la crème of Nollywood including Joke Silva, Chioma Akpotha, Uche Jombo, and Kate Henshaw, among others.
- Mercy Chinwo and Blessed Uzochikwa
On June 23, the gospel singer announced her engagement to Uzochikwa, the senior pastor of the Water Brook Church.
The lovebirds then held their marriage introduction in July and traditional wedding in August.
The traditional wedding which took place in Port Harcourt was well attended by celebrities including Banky W and Adesua Etomi.
- Kemi Adetiba and Oscar Heman-Ackah
The movie producer and director announced her engagement to Oscar Heman-Ackah, the Ghanaian music producer, in February.
The filmmaker also disclosed that Oscar proposed to her in January at a surprise party while they were away in Ghana.
Adetiba and Oscar later tied the knot in the Ikoyi axis of Lagos state in April.
The court wedding was followed by a grand star-studded traditional wedding in Lagos.
Adetiba recently revealed she and her husband are still planning for their “final wedding”.
- MI Abaga and Eniola Mafe
Jude ‘MI’ Abaga announced his engagement to Eniola Mafe on April 3.
He revealed he met her in 2020. He also said he knew “straight away” that she is the “one.
In September, the lovebirds tied the knot in a traditional ceremony and church wedding.
The wedding was graced by the likes of Banky W, Basketmouth, Noble Igwe, IK Osakioduwa, and Akin Oyebode.
- Fredrick Leonard and Peggy Ovire
In October, Leonard revealed Peggy Ovire, his colleague in the movie industry, as his lover.
Shortly after the unveiling, the duo released pre-wedding photos to the surprise of their fans.
The lovebirds then tied the knot in a star-studded traditional wedding in Warri, Delta state in November.
- Nikki Laoye and Soul Snatcha
The gospel artiste announced her engagement to her partner in November 2021.
Soul Snatcha, born Adekunle Adeyoola, disclosed that the engagement came after 20 years of friendship.
The duo then proceed to have their traditional wedding in March 2022.
Laoye’s engagement came three years after she divorced Alex Oturu, whom she married in 2011.
Adeyoola was also married with four kids before his wife died in 2019.
- Tim Godfrey and Erica Jones
The gospel artiste had a destination white wedding with his partner in the United States two months after announcing their engagement.
In June, the couple tied the knot traditionally in Nigeria.
The ceremony was attended by celebrities like Timi Dakolo, Josh2funny, Frank Edwards, and Moses Bliss.
- Blossom Chukwujekwu and Winifred Akhuemokhan
Three years after his split from Maureen Esisi, his former wife, the actor wedded his new partner in May.
The traditional marriage took place in Benin city, Edo state.
In June, the lovebirds had their church wedding which was officiated by Chris Oyakhilome, the clergyman.
- Vector and Yinka Coker
The rapper, born Olanrewaju Ogunmefun, tied the knot with his lover in a low-key ceremony in December.
The ceremony was made public by Coker via Instagram. Vector is, however, yet to share anything on his social media pages with respect to the wedding — since it became public.
- Ini Dinma Okojie and Abasi Ene-Obong
The Nollywood actress got engaged to Abasi, her lover, in July 2021.
Okojie revealed that their love story started after Abasi — who was her fan on Instagram — bought her Malteser chocolate about three years ago.
In May this year, the lovebirds tied the knot in a civil wedding after having their wedding introduction in November 2021.
The civil wedding was then followed by an Edo and Efik-themed traditional wedding ceremony on May 21.
Okojie’s wedding was graced by celebrities in the movie industry including Sharon Ojo, Linda Ejiofor, Linda Osi, Beverly Osu, and Bisola Aiyeola.
