Ngozi, the wife of Zack Orji, the actor, has debunked claims that she solicited financial assistance from Nigerians for her ailing husband.
Orji slumped on December 29 and was admitted to the intensive care unit of the national hospital in Abuja.
On Tuesday, Remi Tinubu, the first lady; Nana Shettima, the wife of the vice president; and Hannatu Musawa, the minister of art, culture, and creative economy, visited the ailing actor at the hospital.
Musawa prayed for Orji’s recovery and called for support for the movie star.
The minister also hailed the actor for his contributions to the movie industry and described him as a “national asset”.
But on Thursday, there were rumours that Orji’s wife had requested assistance from Nigerians during the minister’s visit.
Speaking with TheCable Lifestyle, Ngozi said the reports that she sought public help for her husband are “false”.
Orji wondered where the stories originated from, adding that she never granted any interview concerning her husband’s health.
“I have not seen that. Really? I have not even had time to check. Really? For where na? Who did I tell that one? I do not remember granting interview to anybody. It is well. Please, I never said anything,” she spoke in a mixture of pidgin and English.
