Olamide Adedeji, SoundCity broadcaster, called yahoo boys “armed robbers,” asking authorities to “file them next to drug dealers, thieves, money launderers”.

He said: “For those that are idolizing Yahoo people. That isn’t the Nigerian dream.

“That is pure fraud! Imagine you wake up in the morning & your life savings are gone only to be used to pop champagne and drive cars and nurture bad habits. Authorities must nip this trend in the bud, fast!”

The outcry against crime began when Noble Igwe, CEO of the 360 Group, listed the tactics of fraudsters and money launderers to help the EFCC nab such criminals.

Igwe, in reaction to EFCC’s raid of a Lagos club on Thursday, described yahoo boys as thieves armed with computers.

“Record label estate, property business, car selling business. The above are major 419 /fraud fronts in Nigeria,” he wrote.

“EFCC needs to have a waiter stationed at every club within Lekki & VI. After last night, club owners are going to record low sales and Uber drivers will be busy tonight.

“Online stores and stores on Admiralty/Fola Osibo are used for money laundering.

“Armed robbers on Instagram are regarded as G boys but in reality, theirs is a different type of stealing.

“People steal and then turn around to blame the government for making them criminals.

“Anyone that defends a criminal is a criminal and while we have a list for people advocating rape culture, we should also have one for such people.”

Reacting to Igwe’s tweet, Oyemyke, comedian, said the former is a snitch.
