‘Lionheart’, a movie directed by Genevieve Nnaji, is eagerly awaited, mostly because it’s been over one year since fans and critics first got a hint of it.
Ahead of its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, the trailer has finally surfaced.
‘Lionheart’ tells the story of Adaeze Obiagu (Nnaji), a young woman trying to save her ailing father’s (Pete Edochie) business while being micro-managed by her uncle (Nkem Owoh).
From the little gathered from the trailer, the movie’s screenplay appears great but the plot is somewhat cliche.
While the acting is not exactly striking, it can only be well-judged when the movie is out.
Nnaji says the ‘Lionheart’ “is the beginning of a journey to explore and express my creative interpretation of story-telling, particularly African stories”.
Enjoy the trailer.
