Cristiano Ronaldo, the renowned Portuguese footballer, has featured a song by Asake, the Nigerian singer, in his latest Instagram video.

In the video shared to his nearly 640 million followers on Wednesday, the 39-year-old could be seen playing padel with Arturo Coello, the world champion. Asake’s ‘Active’ was playing in the background of the Instagram post.

The post has raked in over 1.4 million likes and over 23,300 comments in six hours.

Asake also reposted the video on his Instagram story.

‘Active’ is a track from the Afrobeats singer’s third album ‘Lungu Boy’ which was released in August. In the song, the Nigerian featured US rapper Travis Scott.

Ronaldo, who recently hit 1 billion followers on social media, is regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time.

He has won five Ballon d’Or awards, three UEFA Men’s Player of the Year Awards, and four European Golden Shoes, the most by any European player.

The Portuguese international has also scored over 900 senior career goals and is the leading all-time goal-scorer in the world.

According to the latest issue of Forbes, Ronaldo is the highest-paid athlete in the world in 2024 with an estimated total earnings of $260 million.

He is also the most-followed person on social media — including Instagram (639 million), X (113 million), Facebook (170+ million), and YouTube (60+ million).

Asake, on the other hand, rose to prominence in 2020 with his hit song ‘Lady’. The singer joined YBNL, the record label owned by Olamide, in February 2022.

The Grammy-nominated singer has three studio albums to his name including ‘Mr Money With The Vibes’ (2022) and ‘Work of Art’ (2023), and ‘Lungu Boy’, (2024). He has also earned a plethora of awards for his craft.
