Kaisha Umaru and Lucy Essien, two former housemates of the Big Brother Nigeria Reality TV (BBNaija), have recounted how they were allegedly harassed by Nigerian policemen.

In a now-viral video, the two reality TV stars could be seen engaging in a heated exchange with policemen at a location believed to be in Lagos.

It was gathered that the drama started when the police officers asked the duo to come down for a routine search.

After checking their car, one of the officers had requested to also search Kaisha’s hand bag — an idea the reality star vehemently opposed.

Amid the drama, Kaisha started an Instagram live session to show her followers what was transpiring between them and the police officers at the time.

The reality star also alleged that one of the officers grabbed her arm and also touched her with his gun while she was recording what was happening.

The development, however, seemed to have angered the officer who darted towards Kaisha before knocking down the phone to discontinue the live video.

Lucy, on the other hand, could be seen trying to calm the situation by dialoguing with the police officer.

In an Instagram post on Monday, Lucy appreciated those who reached out to her since the incident, assuring them that she is okay.

She also enjoined members of the public to always give a listening ear to police officers, explaining that such mutual understanding would help prevent recurring face-offs between residents and security operatives.

“I’m fine guys, thanks for checking in! Sometimes, please just hear the officers out. A little cooperation and mutual respect goes a long way,” she wrote.

The development comes months after the country witnessed weeks of demonstrations against extrajudicial killings and police brutality.
