The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) students’ union senate council has honoured Seun Awogbenle, the youth advocate and author.

The union presented the excellence award to the author during the students’ parliamentary summit held at the UNILORIN main auditorium on Monday.

According to the students’ union, the award was in recognition of Awogbenle’s “tireless and immeasurable contribution towards youth inclusion and advancement in government, through his advocacy and civic engagements.”

In his reaction, Awogbenle, who was also a panelist at the summit, said the award would motivate him to do more for the youth.

The youth advocator also expressed his gratitude to the union for finding him worthy of recognition.

The author said the youth can birth new dawn in Nigeria if given the opportunity to occupy leadership positions.

“It is my true conviction that there is nothing is public service leadership that is beyond the grasp of young people,” he said.

“Already, Nigeria’s young people are showing excellence in almost all areas, creating wealth and leading initiatives. From Business, Entrepreneurship, Music, Arts, Fashion, Showbiz, Fintech, Education, Civic Advocacy and Media.”

Awogbenle enjoined political parties to mainstream youth participation, and provide opportunities for young people to be adequately represented ahead of the 2023 elections.

The youth advocate is the author of ‘The Urgency of Now: Why Nigeria Needs A vision of Prosperity, Protection and Liberty’.
