A man has claimed he is the father of Ayo Balogun, the award-winning singer better known as Wizkid.
In a now-trending video of a church named Revelation of God Fire ministry, a cleric shared what seems to be a prophecy for one of his members.
The clergy claimed he saw that the man had wealthy people around him, including a son.
“You have people around you who have money? Millionaires. I am seeing something like a musician, something like that, ” he said.
Interjecting, the man responded and emphatically told the preacher that he is the father of Wizkid.
The man, who seems to be in his old age, alleged that Muniru Balogun, Wizkid’s father, snatched Jane Dolapo, the singer’s late mum, from him.
“He’s my son, Balogun nah him marry him Mama, nah me be his papa. I am the father of Wizkid. Look at me well. I am the father of Wizkid,” he said.
He said the ‘Holla At Your Boy’ hitmaker is Davido’s friend, and he will celebrate his birthday on July 17.
Wizkid, 34, was born in Surulere on July 16, 1990. He grew up in a polygamous home with a Muslim father and a Christian mother.
He rose to stardom in 2011 after the release of his debut album, Superstar. He is often referred to as one of Afrobeats ‘Big 3’.
In a 2012 radio interview with Tim Westwood, Wizkid revealed that his father has three wives.
The singer is known to be very fond of his mum.
In 2014, Wizkid released ‘Mummy Mi’, a song off his ‘Ayo’ album. The song was dedicated to mothers worldwide.
He has released other albums, including ‘Sound from the Other Side’ (2017), and ‘More Love, Less Ego’ (2022).
He also holds the title of the best-selling Afrobeats artist of all time, with over 65 million units sold worldwide.
Wizkid’s last album, ‘Morayo’, was released on November 22, 2024, as a tribute to his late mother, who passed away in August 2023.
He won a Grammy Award in 2021 for his contribution to Beyoncé’s ‘Brown Skin Girl.’
Wizkid has yet to react to the claim when filing this report.
