‘The Blood Covenant’ is set for an April 15 cinema release starring Alexx Ekubo and Tobi Bakre.
Inkblot, the production company behind the project, released the official trailer of the movie on Friday.
Directed by Fiyin Gambo from a script by Chiemaka Osagwu, ‘The Blood Covenant’ dwells on the evils of rituals.
It touches on societal tropes such as greed, peer pressure, and corruption in people’s quest to amass wealth.
‘The Blood Covenant’ tells the story of Eddy, Jite, and Osiano (played by Tobi Bakre, Shawn Faqua, and Uzor Arukwe), three ambitious young men in their late twenties struggling to make it in life.
Tired of being looked down upon, they embark on a relentless quest for the high life, chasing easy money, fast cars, and fame. They’re willing to do whatever it takes no matter what it costs them.
‘The Blood Covenant’ is produced by Chinaza Onuzo in collaboration with Zulumoke Oyibo and Maryann Eziekwe.
It features performances from an ensemble cast including, Erica Nlewedim, Ufuoma McDermott, Omowunmi Dada, Shalewa Ashafa, and Chimezie Imo.
Gambo, while speaking on the project, said: “From the message it is trying to pass across, through the intensity of the script and working with the amazing cast, this is truly a dream project for me.”
Onuzo, in turn, added: “There has been a rise in cases of money rituals. We wanted to leverage storytelling to demonstrate to young Nigerians and the society at large, how damaging this despicable trend can be.”
