Tom Hanks, an American actor, and Rita Wilson, his wife, have both been released from the hospital after undergoing treatment for the coronavirus.

The couple had been hospitalized in isolation in Australia after being diagnosed with the novel COVID-19 last week.

On Tuesday, Chet Hanks, their son, took to his Instagram page to announce that his parents have been discharged and are recovering, although they’re still under self-quarantine.

“Quick update on my folks, they’re out of the hospital. They’re still on self-quarantine obviously but they’re feeling a lot better,” Hanks said.

“I just want to say anyone else out there that are afflicted with the virus, my prayers go out to you. Because lots of people are suffering other than my parents right now.

“I just wish everybody a swift recovery. The most important thing is that we all stay calm. Panicking isn’t really necessary. It’s just making things more difficult than they need to be.”

While the global death toll as well as the number of infected persons have continued to rise, there are currently 375 confirmed cases of the disease in Australia.

“We felt a bit tired like we had colds and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too,” Hanks, 63, had said while earlier describing the illness.

“To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.”

The news comes about the same time when Idris Elba, British movie star, confirmed that he has tested positive for the disease.
