The social media team of Pere, BBNaija season six housemate, has dismissed allegations of domestic violence against him in some quarters.

Unverified reports had earlier swirled on the social media accusing the reality TV star of assaulting his “former wife,” resulting in the loss of her pregnancy.

The reports, supported with a court document, had also claimed that his “former wife” dragged him to court over the alleged miscarriage.

But in a lengthy statement on Friday, Pere’s team debunked the reports, saying such was an attempt to smear his reputation.

The statement also said that the 36-year-old visual artist has never been a “violent” person. It added that the public should disregard the allegations.

“Over the past week, a number of media outlets published materials containing false allegations that aim to damage the reputation of Pere,” it read.

“In those publications, he was falsely accused of being abusive in his personal life. They attached a false image of an individual just to make their case look legit. The said materials make baseless speculations as to who Pere is as an individual.

“Pere has never been violent all his life and the image being portrayed was a picture with his friend, a colleague who’s happily married. These types of false information do not affect Pere alone but the innocent friend who’s just showing support to him.”

Pere’s team also called out media outlets that circulated such reports, adding it is currently weighing legal actions against such platforms.

“We’re currently taking legal steps to each media platform that are involved in this defamation of character,” it added.

“A defamation matter is defined in section 373 of the criminal code as a matter likely to injure the reputation of any person by exposing him to hatred, contempt or ridicule, or likely to damage any person in his profession or trade by injury to his reputation.”

Pere has come under fire in the past few days over his seemingly confrontational approach in dealing with his colleagues at the ‘Shine Ya Eye’ house.

He was recently the subject of a heated controversy over his face-off with White Money, his fellow housemate.

His team had earlier denied claims that he bullied White Money amid the the backlash.
