Toke Makinwa, a media personality, has come out to speak on the rumour that her mansion in Banana Island, Lagos, was taken over by the Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON).
On July 2, the AMCON had seized assets belonging to Festus Fadeyi and the Pan Ocean Group. It said that they were holding on to debt of over N240 billion.
On Monday, reports had surfaced on social media platforms that Makinwa’s luxury apartment in Banana Island was seized and that the property — said to have been listed among Fadeyi’s assets — was a gift to her.
But in a statement issued through Andrea Giaccaglia, Makinwa’s publicist, the radio presenter denied the rumour on the seized Banana Island mansion.
She, however, insisted that she is the sole owner of the property in Ikoyi.
“On behalf of Ms. Toke Makinwa, we would like to address the rumour circulating the internet that Ms. Toke Makinwa’s alleged house in Banana Island was taken over by the AMCON,” she said.
“Ms. Toke’s is the sole owner of her residence in Ikoyi. Our lawyers have been contacted and legal action will be taken against the originators of this story.”
