The Bayelsa-born singer has four children — Emmanuella, Gracey, Emmanuel, and Maya — from three different women.

He welcomed Emmanuella and Gracey, his first two daughters, with Barbara Fumnaya Nwaokolo.

The musician also shares Emmanuel with Tamar while Maya is with Dunnie Onasanya.

Timaya opened up about his current love life and choice of a woman in a recent interview with Beat FM.

When asked to state the reasons for his stance, Timaya said although he does not have issues with Nigerian ladies, he added that having a relationship with them “will be toxic”.

He argued that having the same background as his lover “will create an unnecessary argument about unfaithfulness”.

He, however, said the fact that he cannot date a Nigerian lady does not mean they are not right for any other person.

The 43-year-old artiste also revealed that he is now in love with a woman who is not a Nigerian.

“I am in love with someone right now. It is going on very well,” he said.

“Nobody is wrong. People may not be right to you. But they are not wrong either. Like me, I do not have a problem with Nigerian girls. If I am a Nigerian girl I will not date a Nigerian man.

“Myself right now, I can not date a Nigerian girl. The girl I am in love with right now is not Nigerian.

“With the same foundation, the same upbringing. The relationship will be like police and thief. It will be too toxic. We go dey lie for each other too much. Even when something no dey wrong, we go find something wey wrong.”

The singer also talked about his past struggles with drug addiction.
