Tanzanian singer ‘beaten to death’ by police-husband

Kijakazi Pazi Shaban, a Tanzanian female artiste, has been beaten to death by her husband, a police officer.

According to Tanzanian media outlets, the artiste popularly known as Zamzam, died in her house in Musoma after being ruthlessly beaten.

A Tanzanian website reports that Hamad Ally, Zamzam’s husband, took her body to a morgue in Temeke, Dar es Salaam, where he reported that she died as a result of injuries suffered from stomach ulcer.

“Sad news about Zamzam’s death reached us, and we were informed that she died as a result of stomach ulcers.

“Her husband then said he would bury her in Kilimanjaro area; but as family, we had to know why, and when,” said the late artiste’s family.

“Zamzam had in the past sent gory photos of her deformed, wounded face to friends, saying she had been cruelly beaten by her husband – and that if anything would happen to her, then her husband should be held accountable,” the family’s statement further said.

Postmortem performed at a Temeke hospital on Zamzam’s body revealed that the singer succumbed to her injuries following a beating.

The husband has been arrested and is being questioned at Chang’ombe police station.

According to Ramadhan Ng’anzi, Hamad Ally’s boss, the latter had requested for a van to “take his ailing wife to hospital”.

The boss said he was unaware of the fact that he had killed his wife.

Zamzam’s death is still being investigated by the police.
