Last respects have started pouring in from celebrities in the entertainment industry to honour Olarenwaju Fasasi, the late entertainer better known as Sound Sultan, after he gave up the ghost fighting cancer.
The death of the 44-year-old star came as shock to many of his contemporaries and millions of Nigerians.
Many celebrities have taken to social media to reflect on the type of person the ‘Jagbajantis’ singer was.
“For over 20yrs, not once did I see you lose your cool, a wise man, a humble man, kind hearted…a true definition of a good friend,” he said.
“I will definitely miss those very early hours of the day that I will call you and share my crazy ideas with you, while taking notes as you throw in your genius touch.
“One of the most creative humans I’ve ever met, extremely intelligent, with so much love to give.”
Vector Tha Viper, who recorded ‘Hussle’, a collaborative project with the deceased, described him as a religious man with tolerance. He said the ‘Motherland’ singer was never judgmental and was always understanding.
“As for you, I don’t know why my heart rests even though it is in shock. maybe I believe if it is true that what we do determines where we are going after death, then you are fine,” he said.
“You always remember to ask us to come and eat sallah meat and celebrate your religious belief… which is love. You never judged any act even though you may laugh at many things.
“Thank you for your honesty and understanding. Thank you for the life you lived whilst you were here.”
On his part, Frank Edoho, Nigerian television host, called him “the nicest, most humble and talented person you could ever know,” while Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, BBNaija host, described him as “the nicest human being you’ll ever meet”.
Akin Alabi, founder of NairaBET and a federal lawmaker, expressed shock at the news of the ‘Orobo’ singer’s death, and said “Sultan is a great all round guy”, adding that it is “too early to leave this earth”.

The news of the death of Sound Sultan shocked my whole being. Great all round guy. Too early to leave this earth. A very bad day. 💔

Sound Sultan wasn’t about the bitches, money, cars and necklace. He sang about societal issues. Bad education. Corruption. Incompetence. Poverty. He challenged and criticised political leaders. He was a solid artist.

Innalillahi wa Inna ilayhi rajiun.
May Aljanna Firdaus be your final abode, Sound Sultan. May the sickness be kaffarah for you. May God give your family the fortitude to bear the loss.
Kai!
This is heartbreaking!
