Rita Dominic, the Nigerian actress, has explained why she waited so long before getting married.
Dominic got married to Fidelis Anosike, her husband, in 2022 at the age of 46.
In an interview with Joy 99.7 FM, she said she took her time because she wanted to be sure she was making the right decision.
She added that she had always wanted the man of her dreams and not society’s choices for her.
“I wanted to be sure that I was married for the right reasons, not for the reasons that stemmed from societal pressure,” said the actress.
“Even before I got married, the pressure was there for years, but I just turned a deaf ear.
“Like I always say, I will marry the man of my dreams and not the man society dreams for me.
“If anything goes wrong tomorrow, I will be the one left to pick up the pieces, not the society.”
Rita and Anosike wedded traditionally in April 2022.
The white wedding ceremony was held in North Yorkshire, England, in November 2022.
The lavish ceremonies were well attended by both their colleagues in the industry.
In September 2023, Rita Dominic dismissed reports claiming she welcomed a set of twins with her husband.
She also slammed rumour mongers for spreading what she described as lies.
A month later, the actress would succeed her husband as the organiser of the Miss Nigeria beauty pageant.
