In a post via Instagram on Wednesday, the singer said he would not be performing due to health concerns.

Rema, however, promised to return to the stage next year.

“It breaks my heart to say that I won’t be performing anywhere this December,” he said.

“It has been years of touring, I have ignored my health and I need time to recuperate. 2024 we go again, love.”

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo had previously announced plans to host the Edo-born singer to a homecoming concert on December 21.

Obaseki expressed his excitement to bring Rema back to his roots, a concert many fear could be affected.

Rema, whose real name is Divine Ikubor, has been enjoying a massive reception from music lovers since he came into the limelight.

He signed a record deal with D’Prince’s Jonzing World, a subsidiary of Mavin Records, in 2019.

The singer released his eponymous debut extended play (EP) ‘Rema’ in 2019.

Last year, Rema put out a 16-track album ‘Rave & Roses’.

Earlier this month, the hitmaker thrilled concertgoers with ‘Ravage Uprising’, inside the sold-out 20,000-capacity iconic London arena with his stellar collection of songs and stage performance.

‘Calm Down’, his hit song, has continued to do numbers on streaming services.
