Portable, the controversial Nigerian singer, has lamented after meeting Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate.

The pair met over the weekend in Benin, the Edo state capital. Obi was in Benin to support Olumide Akpata, the Labour Party’s gubernatorial candidate. Portable, on the other hand, was in the state for a show.

In a now-viral video, the excited singer was seen bowing as he approached the former Anambra governor beside his car. They also exchanged pleasantries.

Shortly after the meeting, the visibly disappointed Portable complained that Obi did not offer him any money.

Speaking in Yoruba, the ‘Zazoo Zeh’ hitmaker compared Obi unfavorably to Bola Tinubu, implying that the president would have been more generous.

“Obi cannot give us anything. Obi didn’t give us anything. If it was Tinubu we met, he would have given us something. Let’s go,” he said.

Born Habeeb Okikiola, Portable gained fame in December 2021 with the release of ‘Zazoo Zeh’, his hit single featuring Olamide and Poco Lee.

Since then, he has been in the public eye for controversial reasons.

In May, Portable was arrested by the Lagos police for allegedly failing to pay the debt he incurred after purchasing his G-Wagon from a car dealer.

In March, Portable got into a physical altercation with Kesari Okala, the content creator, at Computer Village in Lagos.

He was recently captured in a street fight with a man over an alleged phone theft.
