Jemima Jelagat Sumgong, Kenyan long distance runner snatched up a gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics in spectacular fashion.

Sumgong left for Rio as a senior private in the Kenyan Defence Forces but upon her heroic return, she was promoted to corporal.
Jemima was also showered with gifts during her promotion.
