The wedding ceremony was held on Saturday. The event was attended by family members, top political figures and close friends.

El-Rufai was, however, conspicuously absent at his first son’s wedding ceremony.

Uba Sani, the state governor, who represented his predecessor as the bridegroom’s father, shared pictures from the wedding ceremony on X.

“On Saturday, August 12th, 2023, I had the honor of standing in as the father of the groom at the wedding ceremony of my former Senior Legislative Aide, and House of Representatives Member (Kaduna North Fed. Constituency), Hon. Bello El-Rufai and his beautiful wife, Aisha Shuaibu,” Sani wrote.

“I wish them a happy married life and I pray that Allah make theirs amongst the best. Ameen.”

In May, Bello and Aisha tied the knot in a private Nikkah ceremony in Abuja.

Bello is a member-elect in the house of representatives. He is representing Kaduna north local government area (LGA).

Aisha, on the other hand, is the daughter of Habibu Shuaibu, the former military administrator for Plateau and Niger states.

In 2015, Bello was reported to have married Kamilah, his first wife, in Kaduna. Kamilah is the niece of Maryam, the wife of Ibrahim Babangida, Nigeria’s former head of state.

Although the state of his first marriage remains unclear, Bello took to X on Sunday to call out news outlets that “referred to Aisha as his second wife”.

The politician argued that he is “not strong enough” for polygamy — even though it is allowed in Islam.
