Tobechukwu Victor Okoh, Nigerian singer better known as Peruzzi, has been receiving backlashes on social media after he assaulted Pamilerin Adegoke, a social media influencer.

The popular internet user had made some comparative, albeit critical comments about the singer some months back.

This was after the ‘Champion Lover’ crooner had complained that he ought to have won the ‘Best New Artiste Award’ at the 2018 Soundcity MVP Awards — which was eventually claimed by Teni the entertainer.

In a series of now-deleted tweets, Pamilerin had tackled Peruzzi for claiming he worked harder than any other artist and was more deserving of the award.

Peruzzi, who did not find it funny, was said to have spotted the social media influencer after an event in Bayelsa.

It was gathered that the DMW singer, with the help of his bouncer, dragged the social media influencer from the bus he was in and assaulted him.

Pamilerin also shared a picture of his face on Sunday after the incident with the caption: “The worst happened to me today, but they will be hearing from me shortly and surely. Let’s keep up the energy! #TheresStillFreedomOfExpression #DontForget.”

Pam Pam allegedly slapped by Peruzzi

But on Monday, Peruzzi took to his Twitter account to confirm that he slapped Pamilerin in a message of apology.

“I did very wrong for yesterday slapping mr pamilerin, let my feelings get the best of me and I am very sorry. Apologies to mr pamilerin and also to the general public. I’d never get into such mess again. Love Only, I promise,” he wrote.

The apology was immediately backed with another by Davido.

“I apologize to you @thepamilerin on behalf of my Brother and Artist @Peruzzi_VIBES he was wrong for putting his hands on you but pple need to realize that we Artist are human beings and we see everything! You said some harsh words too my brother and sometimes this thing dey pain!,” he wrote.

Despite the apology, some Nigerians still took to social media to register their opinions. While a segment of users condemned the actions of the singer, others tackled the social media influencer.

“So Peruzzi slapped Pamilerin over an old tweet. I’ve said it before: Talent is one thing, Character is another. This ratchet behaviour only shows that beyond the fame and cameras, Peruzzi like many others is a classless rogue and an unrefined scallywag. Alimosho Lucky Dube,” one Twitter user said.

“So this Obalende Travis Scott thinks he can just physically assault someone and get away with it, we actually need to take a stand against this celebrities thinking they are God, I hope Peruzzi feels better now, finally he has a HIT………..on Pamilerin,” said another user.

Here is what Nigerians had to say:
