Ifeanyi Adefarasin, wife of Paul Adefarasin, Nigerian televangelist and head of House on the Rock churches, has stirred up a hornets‘ nest on social media platforms over her comments on ladies who dress indecently to church.
In a series of now-trending videos that surfaced online on Thursday, the former banker is seen speaking against the way some ladies dress to church and the gimmicks they resort to in their search for husbands.
“Walking up and down cannot get you a husband, if you dress somehow and there’s a guy here you can tempt, the guy will have a fling with you as the toy that you are and fling you when he’s done,” the former beauty queen said in the undated video.
“No man wants somebody that by the time he’s walking, he’s trying to figure out well if this is how she is advertising, how many of us are logging into her website.”
Her admonishment has since ruffled the feathers of some individuals on Twitter as a segment of users think the preacher’s words were condescending and harsh. Others commended her for delivering the bitter undiluted truth.
“Pastor Ifeanyi’s words were a bit too harsh. Words like the ones she used in this video are capable of killing the spirit of any unmarried young girl who’s just trying to help in the church because she loves God. She needs to step down the tongue lashing a little bit,” a Twitter user said.
“We’ve been silent on indecent dressing, and then, Pastor Ifeanyi talks about it and you call it harsh. How,” another user said.
Here is what some Nigerians had to say:
“Walking up and down in church scantily dressed cannot get you a husband”… Pastor Ifeanyi said it, I didn’t …pic.twitter.com/GuyI4ABqnB

What pastor Ifeanyi simply said is dress the way you want to be addressed and in the house if God, be guided in what you wear.
— R. A™️ (@beingreggy) June 13, 2019
Now it is harsh cause it's been addressed
If it wasn't addressed, they'll still say the church is quiet about it

This so called Pastor Ifeanyi said the truth in a stupid holier than thou way. How can she b proud she did d same husband waka up&down thing&still mock d younger ones doing it without admitting she was wrong for doing it in d past. She can only run her mouth like purging when she

…mentions it not to mock in an holier than thou way but to correct in a more humble we are all sinners way. Is it for the attention or she is angry her man got turned on sometimes? By their preaching we shall know them. So preach unbaise Pastor Ifeanyi…cuz u did same.

God bless Pastor Ifeanyi Adefarasin!🙌🙏
This is to both genders – Let's dress decently & modestly. @IAdefarasin https://t.co/6kdgCGT13m— ayoolaOfficial! (@hayoolla) June 13, 2019
Most churches preach prosperity and all, but "Pastor Ifeanyi" decide to preach morals and decent dressing sense, and some people have problems, if you have a problem with what she said you need to check your self.

If you disagree and insult pastor Ifeanyi for telling you to dress well to church that means you consciously know that what you are doing is evil.
— Bright (@universalbigb) June 13, 2019
When I saw "Pastor Ifeanyi" trending, I scrolled through and saw a lot of "She used harsh words",some described her message as "Condescending". I watched that video and I see absolutely nothing wrong with what she said. If you have a problem with it, then the message was for you.

Ya'll think a pretty looking Pastor Ifeanyi will bash slay queens for indecent dressing and they won't come after her?
I'm not surprised, by their tweet we shall know them. pic.twitter.com/17dqxWZZNE— BuhariMustGo🇳🇬😒 (@RealMajamino) June 13, 2019
Indescent dressing has always never been a topic for discussion……..if she decides to come hard on those patronizing it i think to an extent she's right…i mean a place of worship should be devoid of indescent dressing
I rest my case

Pastor Ifeanyi said dress the way you would like to be addressed in summary. But because it is from the altar, they wanna drag her. Smh. Please ride on Pastor
— Chris Uzor (@coding_god) June 13, 2019
What Pastor Ifeanyi is saying is the absolute truth but your hypocritical mind will tell you otherwise. Awon Osho free babe. Nonsense! Before you all come for me, I'm broke but I've never sold my body for sex for once. So don't Coman let trailer jam you here o
— The broke girl 🌟 (@harbidemi01) June 13, 2019
Some people will still not patronise Pastor Ifeanyi even if she's selling happiness, long life and prosperity. We have become so filthily faulty that we now rebuke decency.
— Lewis Ebode (@LewisEbode) June 13, 2019
Why is Pastor Ifeanyi trending ? Please block me if u think Pastor Ifeanyi’s message was trash. U’re also stupid if u think so.
— Mandy (@nikkymandy_) June 13, 2019
Even if pastor ifeanyi had said wear whatever u like, it's ur father's house. A section of this App will still have a problem with it
— Stephen Potentials (@s_potentials) June 13, 2019
I just watched the videos of Pastor Ifeanyi and I can't see one thing wrong in the message. The problem is still that adults (who should act like one) do not like being reprimanded or told to act right. If you cannot dress appropriately to church, perhaps stay at home.
— Young Ògògó (@akintonmide) June 13, 2019
Coughs, see ehn! This Pastor Ifeanyi trending is a church something- Mummy in the Lord for that church wey dem call ‘house on the rock’ shake table- sotay all the girls wey dem pint dey show begin pull dem mini skirt- You all see that I don’t know how to do aproko!
— market (@market88331805) June 13, 2019
So Pastor Ifeanyi says women should dress decently “to church” and there’s an outrage. What exactly is the issue?
Her church. Her members/audience.
Her church rules. But the children of Sensima are crying online that there must be no difference between Quilox and a Cathedral.
