The Nigerian Twittersphere has been sent into overdrive, albeit in outrage, after Tobechukwu Okoh, Nigerian singer better known as Peruzzi, was accused of “betrayal” and “breach of contract” by a record label CEO.

King Patrick, CEO, Goldenboy Entertainment, took to his Twitter page on Thursday to accuse the ‘Majesty’ crooner of breaching a contract he signed under the record label in 2016 because of Davido.

In a series of tweets he narrated how he met Peruzzi and helped him after leaving medical school.

He stated he had signed the singer under his label and described all the investments he made. He even shared photos of the contract signing.

He also stated the video of Peruzzi’s ‘For Your Pocket’, a song produced under his label, had caught the attention of Davido who requested for a meeting with him. After the meeting, Peruzzi had told him Davido suggested a collaboration.

In a surprising turn of events, Davido signed Peruzzi under Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), his record label.

He further stated he had reached out to Davido concerning the incident, imploring him to do the right thing — and give him his due compensation and royalties.

In one of the tweets, he shared screenshots of conversations between himself and the DMW boss. In one of the screenshots, Davido denied signing Peruzzi and claimed he just offered a helping hand to a “brother”.

He also alleged he was ambushed and threatened by Peruzzi during a “fake meeting” set up by the singer in November, 2019.

Patrick’s revelations have since generated lots of conversation on Twitter as users have taken to the microblogging platform to register their different takes on the issue.

While a segment of users  called for the issue to be resolved amicably, others tackled Davido for still signing Peruzzi when he knew he was contracted to another label.

“Peruzzi should be honouring his contract with Golden Entertainment & Davido shouldn’t be Audio Signing someone under contract. Golden ENT have been complaining since 2018, this case has to be settled Peacefully. Stop biting the Finger That Fed You,” a Twitter user said.

“Davido said he is helping a brother. Another ‘We rise by lifting others’ scam. So to rise others you need to pull others down? Golden Boy isn’t somebody right? Na only Peruzzi you wan help right?

Do the right thing! I can’t support evil no matter who is involved,” another user said.

Here is what some Nigerians had to say:
