The Nigerian Twittersphere has been sent into overdrive, albeit in outrage, after Tobechukwu Okoh, Nigerian singer better known as Peruzzi, was accused of “betrayal” and “breach of contract” by a record label CEO.
King Patrick, CEO, Goldenboy Entertainment, took to his Twitter page on Thursday to accuse the ‘Majesty’ crooner of breaching a contract he signed under the record label in 2016 because of Davido.
In a series of tweets he narrated how he met Peruzzi and helped him after leaving medical school.
He stated he had signed the singer under his label and described all the investments he made. He even shared photos of the contract signing.
He also stated the video of Peruzzi’s ‘For Your Pocket’, a song produced under his label, had caught the attention of Davido who requested for a meeting with him. After the meeting, Peruzzi had told him Davido suggested a collaboration.
In a surprising turn of events, Davido signed Peruzzi under Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), his record label.
He further stated he had reached out to Davido concerning the incident, imploring him to do the right thing — and give him his due compensation and royalties.
In one of the tweets, he shared screenshots of conversations between himself and the DMW boss. In one of the screenshots, Davido denied signing Peruzzi and claimed he just offered a helping hand to a “brother”.
He also alleged he was ambushed and threatened by Peruzzi during a “fake meeting” set up by the singer in November, 2019.
Patrick’s revelations have since generated lots of conversation on Twitter as users have taken to the microblogging platform to register their different takes on the issue.
While a segment of users called for the issue to be resolved amicably, others tackled Davido for still signing Peruzzi when he knew he was contracted to another label.
“Peruzzi should be honouring his contract with Golden Entertainment & Davido shouldn’t be Audio Signing someone under contract. Golden ENT have been complaining since 2018, this case has to be settled Peacefully. Stop biting the Finger That Fed You,” a Twitter user said.
“Davido said he is helping a brother. Another ‘We rise by lifting others’ scam. So to rise others you need to pull others down? Golden Boy isn’t somebody right? Na only Peruzzi you wan help right?
Do the right thing! I can’t support evil no matter who is involved,” another user said.
Here is what some Nigerians had to say:
If truly this is your chat with Davido, then he was very polite tbh.. just go and settle whatever it is with Peruzzi and leave Davido out of this… https://t.co/4klviqy2KG

We tend to forget our roots easily the moment we find a little bit of success. it clouds our thoughts and make us disregard the humble beginnings.
Peruzzi should acknowledge what was done for him in the past and set things right with Davido and king Patrick.

I know Peruzzi, I know Golden Boy. I know them both separately. They’re my Igbo brothers.
This whole shit is breaking my heart fam!!!
I was excited when the two of them partnered up for the music.
I want them both to sort this shit out amicably!!! 😡

So Peruzzi had us singing that Amaka disappointed him, meanwhile he had been disappointing his label all this while 😩

God knows no matter how rich I am, I can’t invest in upcoming acts. The way they switch up on you when they get the fame is crazy. In this Peruzzi’s case I’ll blame Davido too for harbouring someone that you clearly know is signed under another label.

It's from this picture you all should have known Peruzzi signing to DMW was audio and fake. How can you be signed on a plain A4 paper with no written agreement. Maybe na only me no see wetin they type Sha. #SurvivingPeruzzi pic.twitter.com/dJseG59RcX

People like Peruzzi are the ones making it hard for upcoming artistes to get the help they need to make it in Music Industry. Everyone is now scared of helping upcomings, because they never know which one will turn out to be ingrate.
It sad seeing helpers regretting they helped

Davido said he is helping a brother. Another 'We rise by lifting others' scam.
So to rise others you need to pull others down? Golden Boy isn't somebody right? Na only Peruzzi you wan help right?

I really hope Peruzzi, Goldenboy ENT. and Davido settle their ish amicably, nobody actually loves to be cheated or feel cheated but damn it……Peruzzi said 43 million naira is Chicken Change??
Oluwa when? ……..When Baba mi?
— Tife🌚 (@Tife_fabunmi) January 16, 2020
I Know Peruzzi personally, and i can assure you that he is signed to DMW and he is a bona-fide 30BG gang. There is nothing that Golden shit can do about it.

Peruzzi: I’m looooosing control
Patrick: Alaye pay me first, you fit run enter bush if you like

The Moral from this Peruzzi, Davido and king Patrick story :
You gotta understand that everybody ain't got the same heart and mind as you.
— KingJames 🌍🌎🌏 (@kingjames_x) January 16, 2020
The guy should not forget that Peruzzi wrote 10 out of 25 davido songs released in those period
Collect your money and collect Peruzzi too
— iTola (@Cdetolah) January 16, 2020
Dear Davido FC, most of you don’t know anything about contract signings. The music buisness is complicated. Leave Peruzzi and Davido to deal with what’s on ground.
— DREYLO. (@RealDreylo) January 16, 2020
Mayorkun admitted to spending his own money to promote "Mama"
I heard DMW does not take of its artists' profits.
And now we find out Peruzzi technically isn't signed to DMW.
DMW sounds more like a retweet group for music than a Record Label tbh. 🤔
— Mazi Marvin the Paranoid Android (@Boboye_Ak) January 16, 2020
So, Peruzzi was signed to a label before he was signed by Davido. He never finished his contract with the former record label before signing with DMW
Wow wow wow
— BEAUTIFUL SINNER💫 (@Tizbami) January 16, 2020
So long Peruzzi's craft has the DMW trademark, you hate to hear the truth but Davido should also be held accountable.
Saying he never signed Peruzzi is just a mere facade, no one would believe that.
— Pablo Noser (@pablobignose) January 16, 2020
Peruzzi and Davido not tweeting a thing about this story makes a lot of people worried. Clear the air, if the 43M is a chicken change as said, settle it amicably.
And Pat should be careful too, someone who once ambushed and plot evil against you can still do it again.
— Duke of Ibadan 🀄️ (@AsiwajuLerry) January 16, 2020
Ungrateful never remember d million times u help dem, only remember d one time u hurt dem.If we don't start appreciating few people dat 're interested in our growth,we might lose more support system. If Peruzzi is grateful,he should persuade Davido 2 settle with guy dat signed him.
— SEÑOR🛡️AMID HUMBLE (@amid_temitayo) January 16, 2020
Davido is the one who poisoned Peruzzi and asked him to disregard his contract … Davido signed him by deceit; told the Boss he wanted to perform a song with Peru but instead signed him behind … THATS BULLSHIT !!! https://t.co/wfeZ4gwult
— Sound Man The Ep 🔥🔥🔥😭😭😭⭐️⭐️⭐️ (@Emperorluggy) January 16, 2020
Some humans are ungrateful Peruzzi was a nobody he will never be known if he was with golden boy.
Davido helped him for Gods sake Davido is an angel. Don't drag an angel
— Rudebwoypee (@rudebwoypee24) January 16, 2020
This Kingpatrickgb vs Peruzzi vs Davido issue is the reason some people will rather die than to help others cause they got so many ungrateful people out there…
Even if na 100k the guy invest in you… E do that when no one else was willing to… Respect.
— BS.BLOG⚪ (@Beausteven_blog) January 16, 2020
Interesting thread. This is why I usually support the label bosses when these things happen. Peruzzi disregarded his contract and he's treating his former label this way. It's so hard to invest in upcoming talent in Nigeria. Kudos to folks that still do it. https://t.co/kc0fhLeq7C
— Ayobami (@dondekojo) January 16, 2020
GOLDEN BOY ENTERTAINMENT is demanding for “Royalties & credit” from DAVIDO MUSIC WORLDWIDE. If Peruzzi is signed to his record label, I don’t think he has done any wrong by asking for his share. It’s investment we are talking about here. Legal means is wiser sha #SurvivingPeruzzi pic.twitter.com/w2r1bKF1Bq
— B h a d o o s k y (@BhadmusAkeem) January 16, 2020
Peruzzi introduced you to Davido as the guy who helped him shoot his video, and you didn't rebuff the claim on the spot. LMAO
Davido decided to "Audio sign" peruzzi (same way olamide "Audio signed" Lyta , Limerick and Picazzo) just to make the Artist popular.. Court go solve am😆
— TYCOON RAZZI⭐ (@TycoonRazzi) January 16, 2020
If the story is the way Patrick says it is, then Peruzzi doesn’t need the business side of their deal. He should just repay good for good and gain back the “brotherly love”
But what’s my own in the saga? pic.twitter.com/LHFctl7Dca
— DAMILOLA (@dammie_spencer) January 16, 2020
So Peruzzi was signed to a record label then went ahead to breach his contract cause davido came calling with 'audio signing' ? Well first off davido is not guilty here and Peruzzi should pay every dime for breaching his contract. The case should benl taken to court…..
