Olu Jacobs, a veteran Nollywood actor, has raised the alarm over a fake account on Twitter registered with his name.
The 78-year-old movie star took to his Instagram page on Sunday to issue a statement wherein he refuted claims to any Twitter account operated in his name.
He said he has never registered nor asked anyone to assist him in operating any account on the microblogging platform.
“I Olu Jacobs, would like to make it public knowledge that I do not use twitter. I have neither registered for an account nor asked a third party to do so in my name,” the statement read.
“Therefore any account created on the social media platform should be identified as a fraudulent account designed to gather clout and bring misrepresentation to my brand and that of my family’s.
“I hereby discredit all posts made in my name as the account(s) is not authentic and will be swiftly dealt with by appropriate authorities. Being an entertainer requires me to maintain a certain image for my brand. I do not take misrepresentation lightly. I respect my fans very much and would never do anything to taint such a bond.”
In the same vein, Joke Silva, Jacobs’ wife, took to her verified Twitter page to warn that her husband does not operate any account on the social media platform.
“So we’ve been getting a lot of calls about this account and statements that are “supposedly’ from Olu Jacobs. Please note that my husband Olu Jacobs is not on twitter. We have reported to @TwitterSupport,” she wrote in a thread.
“This account @OluJacobs has maliciously used photos of me and my family members whilst pretending to be Olu Jacobs and changing handles each time it is reported to @TwitterSupport.”

As of when this report was filed, this Twitter account (@OluJacobs) has been deleted from the microblogging platform.
In June, the internet was awash with rumours that Olu Jacobs had passed on. The speculations were, however, dismissed by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).
