Olanrewaju Kayode, the Super Eagles star, has requested that an Abuja high court dissolve his marriage to Ezinne Dora because it has “broken down irretrievably”.
The footballer also demanded that Tobi Adegboyega, the founder of Salvation Proclaimers Anointed Church (SPAC Nation), pay him N1 billion for the “emotional trauma, financial loss, and loss of goodwill caused by his adulterous affair” with Ezinne.
Kayode made the plea in a cross-petition dated July 1 and obtained by TheCable on Tuesday.
In recent months, Kayode and Ezinne’s marriage appeared to have hit a wall, with both parties accusing each other of infidelity, fraud, and domestic violence.
On March 20, Ezinne filed a petition against Kayode for “making baseless allegations of infidelity and witchcraft” against her and her mother. She also claimed he tried to throw her out of their matrimonial home.
She urged the court to dissolve the marriage and grant her custody of their three children.
In his cross-petition, however, Kayode insisted that his estranged wife “had affairs with other men since their marriage in 2013”.
The footballer named Ezinne and Adegboyega as respondent and co-respondent, respectively, in the cross-petition.
He accused Ezinne of conniving with an “ex-lover” to take control of “all the property documents” from his business venture.
Kayode also claimed that his estranged wife “spent rent proceeds from the properties on her amorous relationship with Adegboyega”.
“The Cross Petitioner thereafter purchased many properties from one realtor, Ugochukwu Igboanugo of Zloc Constructions Limited, who was initially introduced to the Cross Petitioner by the Respondent. It was later discovered that the said Ugochukwu Igboanugo was an ex-lover of the Respondent,” the court document reads.
“The Cross Petitioner personally paid for all several choice properties and instructed the realtor to prepare the transfer documents in the name of the Company DE-J-S Concept Limited.
“Unknown to the Cross Petitioner, the Respondent has connived with the said Ugochukwu Igboanugo and collected all the property documents and has been solely and personally collecting rent proceeds from the properties, expending same on her amorous relationship with the Co-Respondent to the Cross Petition.”
Kayode also requested for the custody of their children. He accused Ezinne of “not bothered with the educational and mental well-being and stability of the children of the marriage as the same is evident in her actions by having romantic and sex-related discussions with the Co-Respondent and other men in the presence of the children.”
The suit has been adjourned to September 24, 2024.
