The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has apologised to youth corps members over the delay in paying their allowance for December 2016.
The management of the scheme in a statement released on Wednesday expressed regrets over the delayed payment.
“The NYSC Management regrets the delay in payment of December 2016 allowance to Corps members in some states.
“Management wishes to inform Corps members that efforts are on-going in conjunction with the Ministry of Finance and the Office of the Accountant-General to address the cause of delay, and we have received assurances of positive outcomes soon.
“We thank you for your patience while steps are taken to ensure payment as soon as possible,” the statement said.
Youth corps members were recently warned to disregard reports that the 2016 Batch ‘B’ (Stream II) orientation course will hold between January 16 to February 4.
“We wish to warn that the message did not emanate from the scheme, and its authors are clearly out to cause confusion,” the scheme had said.
The NYSC noted that prospective corps members will be given information about online printing/collection of call-up letters and the commencement date for Batch ‘B’ orientation course through its official website and social media handles.
