The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved 30 courses for Hensard University, Toru-Orua, Bayelsa state.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Dileep Kumar, the university’s vice-chancellor, said the commission approved the courses after its team conducted a verification inspection on the institution’s facilities.

He said the 30 courses are spread across five faculties of the school.

Kumar also announced the commencement of admissions into the institution.

“We are glad to announce that our admissions have started. All the details are available on our website,” he said.

“There is a buffet of 30 courses to choose from and as has been stated we would avail students the best teaching and learning experience in the conducive environment of Toru-Orua.”

Kumar also disclosed that admissions are open for the Hensard University Foundation School.

The foundation school runs a one-year programme on arts, social and management sciences, and physical and natural sciences to prepare candidates for SSCE and UTME.

In November, Hensard secured approval from the NUC to commence operations.

The VC earlier disclosed that graduates of the institution will earn dual certificates.
