Chinyere Wilfred, a Nollywood actress and film producer, has announced the demise of her mother.

The movie star took to her social media page on Sunday to break the sad news in a short video clip.

In the video, Wilfred could be seen with slightly swollen eyes as a result of intense weeping indicating her sad mood over the incident.

The Anambra-born actress also accompanied the clip, which contained a photo of her late mother, with a terse post that read: “R.I.P Mama”.

She, however, did not reveal what led to her death.

The development further stretches the list of celebrities who have lost their loved ones since the dawn of 2020.

The actress cum entrepreneur rode to prominence in 1992 after featuring in ‘Taboo’, a Nollywood blockbuster.

She has since continued to pull the strings in the Nigerian music industry, starring in over 200 films including ‘Playing Games’, ‘Wages’, ‘Taboo’, ‘Obligation’, ‘Oh Mother’, ‘Ripples’, ‘Polygamy’, ‘The Final Clash’, and ‘Range Rover Babes’.

The actress has also won several awards including ‘Best Actress in a Supporting Role’ at the Africa Movie Academy Awards, ‘Best Actress of the Year’ at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards, ‘Best Actress in a Leading Role’ at the Best of Nollywood Awards and ‘Best Actress in Nigeria’ at the Golden Icon Movie Academy Awards.
