Clinton Francis’ journey in the sixth season of Nigerian Idol ended during the live show on Sunday after he was unable to make it into the top 8.

His elimination followed last week’s eviction of Faith Mac and Daniel who could not make the cut for the top 9.

The night was tagged Naija Hits, meaning all the contestants were expected to perform popular songs by Nigerian music stars.

Daniel opened the night with Brymo’s ‘Good morning’ while Comfort performed ‘Duduke’, a 2020 hit song by Simi.

Faith Jason performed ‘Awele’ by Flavor while Akunna sang her version of ‘Loving your way’ by Seyi Shay.

Clinton took on ‘Ada Ada’, another song by Flavour, just as Emmanuel performed ‘For You’ by Teni and Davido.

Kingdom’s rendition of Davido’s ‘Aye’ didn’t quite cut it for the judges, with comments that suggested that the song choice wasn’t right for him and that this performance was mediocre.

The last performance of the night was Beyonce who gave her own spin to Seyi Shay’s classic, ‘Right Now’.

One or two of the top 8 Nigerian Idol contestants may be eliminated during next week’s live show.
