Netflix, the US-based movie streaming platform, has confirmed that ‘Squid Game,’ the Korean TV series, would be returning for a second season.

In a post on its Instagram page, the streaming giants shared a teaser of the squid doll with the number “2” in its eyes.

In another post, Netflix also shared a note from Hwang Dong-Hyuk, the producer and director of the movie, who tells the audience what to expect in the forthcoming season.

“It took 12 years to bring the first season of ‘Squid Game’ to life last year. But it took 12 days for ‘Squid Game’ to become the most popular Netflix series ever,” the message read.

“As the writer, director, and producer of ‘Squid Game,’ a huge shout out to fans around the world. Thank you for watching and loving our show.

“And now,Gi-hun returns, The Front-man returns. Season 2 is coming. The man in the suit with ddakji might come back.

“You’ll also be introduced to Young-hee’s boyfriend, Cheol-su. Join us once more for a whole new round.”

The first season of ‘Squid Game’ has been well received since it was released on Netflix last year.

It also became the most-watched series in the streaming platform’s history.

The ultraviolent TV series centres on a contest where 456 players, drawn from different walks of life but each deeply in debt, play a set of children’s games with deadly penalties for losers for the chance to win ₩45.6 billion.
