In September, it was announced that Lionheart, a film produced and directed by Genevieve Nnaji has been acquired by global streaming giant, Netflix.

However, after successful screening in festivals across the world, the film’s release date has been finally announced.

Lionheart will be available for viewers to watch on Netflix from January 4, 2019.

Produced by Nnaji and Chinny Onwugbenu’s production company, The Entertainment Network (TEN), the movie has a strong cast of Nollywood actors such as Nkem Owoh, Onyeka Onwenu, Steve Eboh, Pete Edochie, Kanayo O Kanayo, Kalu Ikeagwu, Jemima Osunde, Chika Okpala, Yakubu Mohammed and Sani Muazu.

Netflix is closing out the year with strong announcements.

The company recently announced its intention of diversifying its content by acquiring and producing more original content from across the world, including Africa.

Just recently, Netflix announced that 2019 will feature the first ever African original series on the platform, Queen Sono, an action movie starring the South African actress, Pearl Thusi, in lead role.
