Nelly, the US rapper, and Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas, the songstress, have welcomed their first child together.
The couple was said to have tied the knot in a secret ceremony late last year around the same time she announced her pregnancy.
The paperwork showed St. Louis County, Missouri, Nelly’s hometown, as the location where their union became official.
The couple welcomed their child four weeks ago, according to an Instagram post made by Ashanti on Wednesday.
The songstress expressed excitement about being a mother. She added that nothing prepared her for “everything motherhood brings”.
“Four weeks postpartum. You have no idea what this body can do. Funny how life’s plans aren’t always on time. lol. I’ve been waiting to be a mom for a long time now but nothing could prepare me for everything motherhood brings,” she wrote.

The baby will be Ashanti’s first child and Nelly’s third. Nelly is already a father to two adult children from a previous relationship. The 49-year-old and Ashanti, 43, have a long history together.
The pair met at the 2003 Grammy Award winner announcement event. They dated on and off for about 10 years before breaking up in 2013.
The music collaborators have been seen at events together repeatedly in the past years without addressing their relationship status.
