Ajebo Hustlers, the Nigerian music duo, has supported Burna Boy‘s controversial comment that “most Afrobeats songs lack substance”.

In a recent interview, the Grammy-award winner, argued that many Afrobeats artistes do not have real-life experience, hence why their “songs lack substances”.

“When you start going around the world and you start seeing that there are actually motherf**kers that know me a lot than the people that share the same (not experience)… because 90 percent of them do not even share no real life experiences they can understand,” he said.

“It is why you hear most of Nigerian music or Afrobeats as people call it, is mostly about nothing. Literally nothing.

“There is no substance to it. Like nobody is talking about anything. It is just a great time. It is an amazing time. But at the end of the day, life is not an amazing time.”

The music duo, via their account on X, agreed that Burna Boy was saying “the bitter truth”.

“Be mad at Burna all you want!! Still don’t change the fact that half y’all favs make music with no substance. tbh [to be honest] that’s absolutely fair cause this is entertainment at the end of the day, but he’s saying the bitter truth,” the post reads.

In March, the duo released ‘You Go Know’, their latest single, which talks about the need for people to work hard to make money.
